The Stranger

The Stranger by Albert Camus tells the story of Meursault, an emotionally detached Frenchman in Algeria, who lives life apathetically, indifferent to his mother’s death and society’s norms, culminating in him senselessly murdering an Arab man, for which he is condemned not for the crime itself but for his lack of remorse and failure to conform, ultimately leading him to embrace the absurdity and meaninglessness of existence as he faces execution.
