রামুর ইতিহাস

বাংলাদেশের ভৌগোলিক ইতিহাসের সন্ধান পাওয়া যায় পার্গিটা রচিত ভারতীয় দেশসমূহের প্রাচীনকালের মানচিত্রে। এই মানচিত্রে দক্ষিণে সাগর নোপের অবস্থান চিহ্নিত আছে। তাঁর মানচিত্রে কিরাত, সিরোট, শ্রীক্ষেত্র প্রভৃতি স্থানের নাম উল্লেখ করা আছে। পার্গিটা কিরাত সম্পর্কে বলেছেন, it (Kiratades, the term Kirata) was applied to tribes in habiting the Himalaya range and its southern slopes from the Punjub to Assam and Chittagong. ১ কিরাতের সম্পর্কে Lassen বলেন, By the name Kirradia, Ptolemy designates the land on the coast of further India from the city of Pentapolis, perhaps the present Miskanseri (Mirsarai) in the north, as far as the mouth of the Tokasanna or Arakan rivers. Mc Crindle বলেন, By the cirradioi are meant the Kirata a race spread along the mouths of the Ganges as far as Arakan.
